BCK, “Spoorwegmaatschappij van beneden Congo tot Katanga”

Railway stamps issued between 1942 and 1970.

The locomotive depicted (type 300), was in service with the BCK since the beginning of the exploration. The company Franco-Belge built it in the workshops of “La Croyère”.

This was done because of the devaluation the national currency.

According to the O.B.C., only the PK36 2K/2Fr was overprinted with a hand stamp with the capital letters K.D.L. within a cadre.  K.D.L. = Kinshasa-Dilolo-Lubumbashi.

Two examples of moved overprint:

 

1970, PK 43-49 (Forth series)

Same series as above with new overprint done by hand. (Used numbers: PK35, 37 & 38). This overprint was done with purple ink on a basis of aniline.
