Curiosity in overprint:

Apparently there where American troops during the war in the Congo, a Belgian stamp dealer from Liège thought it would be a good idea to use this series of stamps and make an overprint. They were never officially approved or used. Notice the wrongly spelled word “detatchment”, should be detachment.

Only 5 stamps of the series were used:

16 cents on 75c (no 175). Red-carmine

15 cents on 50c (no 173). Violet

20 cents on 1F (no 176). Pink

30 cents on 1.25F (no 177). Brown-red

50 cents on 2F (no 178). Ultramarine
